September in Tarragona signals fiesta time. Santa Tecla, the town’s festa major, showcases an array of the region’s rich traditions including castells (human towers), as well as parades with Gigantes (giants) and Bestias (mythical creatures often strapped with fireworks and lit to spray sparks and generate playful mayhem).
